Cowper Care is also registered as a charity. Registration as a charity means the company is governed by charity specific legislation (primarily the Charities Act 2009) and regulations, can avail of beneficial taxation breaks and undertake specific types of fundraising.
Cowper Care does not raise funds from the general public, nor is it a recipient of state funding; rather it is self-financing through the provision of its services and also receives occasional bequests.
Cowper Care is registered on the charity register and, as such, must comply with all requirements of the charity regulator including, for example, ensuring that all letters and formal documents of the company state that the charity is so registered as well as stating the charity number. In relation to accounting, the Companies Registration Office (CRO) will automatically forward all financial documents to the Charities Regulator. The regulator must also be informed of the names of all directors.
